Wouldn’t it be cool if you could make money doing what you love?

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could wake up everyday excited about life?

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could retire your parents with one check?

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could travel the the world with your kids?

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could write the novel you’ve dreamed of?

Here’s the deal:

This simple phrase is what we call an expanding question:

Designed to make you grow.
Designed to make you dream.
Designed to make you expand.

And ultimately designed to make you own your desires without apology, justification or shame.

Hat tip to entrepreneur Marie Forleo who introduced this on a podcast recently with a simple prompt:

Wouldn’t it be cool if?

Here’s what to do:

Write this in the middle of a sheet of paper with a marker or sharpie —and then grab a pen and let yourself go:

Let yourself aspire.
Let yourself imagine.
Let yourself wonder.
Let yourself expand.
Let yourself envision.

And don’t let anything including money, time, resources —stop you during this exercise.

Why?

Because we often hide our desires.
Because we often avoid our desires.
Because we often discount our desires.

And as long as they’re aligned —there is nothing wrong with wanting a future with freedom, the flexibility to do the work you love and overflowing bank accounts.

So before the end of the year, ask yourself:

Wouldn’t it be cool if?

And then put pen to paper and let her rip with everything you’ve got.
